Basic Requirements

Anyone who’s interested must have:

* A passion for Farmville. You don’t have to love everything about the game or everything about Zynga, but you need to have an interest in the game.
* Solid writing ability. Basic spelling and grammar are required — and the ability to form words without any numbers in them is a major plus. Insider tip: we’re going to assume that the writing in your application is an example of the best writing you’re capable of. Once we see a spelling mistake, grammatical error, or typo, we usually stop reading. (So if you don’t know the difference between its and it’s, now’s the time to look it up.)
* Prolificacy! We need people who can commit to writing on a regular basis.
* For bloggers, we’re looking for people who can commit to a minimum of 25 posts a month. (This may sound daunting, but it works out to about 1 posts a day.)
* For weekend bloggers, we need a commitment to a minimum of 15 posts a month on the weekends. (This works out to 1-2 every Saturday and Sunday.) You’re free to post during the work week as long as you keep up your weekend post count.
* For columnists, we’re looking for people who can commit to weekly content articles of between 500 and 1500 words. You’re free to post other pieces as long as you maintain a quality column on a regular schedule.

Technical Requirements

There are a few technical requirements as well. Before you apply, be sure you:

* Possess a computer and a reliable Internet connection. If your computer can play Farmville, you should be able to blog with us.
* Have the software and knowledge to create and manipulate photos and screenshots. (You only really need to be able to resize images, but you’re welcome to do fancier stuff if you feel like it.)
* Know a little bit about HTML. (Our CMS is all WYSIWYG, but you may occasionally need to make minor tweaks in the source code.)
* Are eligible to work wherever you’re writing from. We can, and often do, contract bloggers from outside the US. The only caveat is that people outside of the US must have a bank account and be able to accept payments by Paypal.
* Are reachable outside of Farmville/Facebook — via e-mail, IM, Skype, phone, etc.

* A sample first column of around 500 words. (Even if you’re hoping to write longer pieces, 500 words represents the minimum length we’re looking for columns and is enough to give us a feel for your writing ability. We get many applications — please do not write a novel.)
* For Items columnists only: Write a 500 to 1000 word pretend letter to the Farmville Hub designers enumerating the changes you’d like to see happen to your farm. While the letter will not be sent to them, we are looking for professionalism, no “QQ” (whinning) in the letter, and clear thoughts and ideas concerning the mechanics of your farm and leveling.

For Around the Farm columnist applicants only, also include:

Farmville is a real time simulation game created by Zynga. It is available as an application over the Social Networking Site, Facebook. Farmville is an absolutely free game, no downloads are required to be able to play as well, all you need to do is log in to your Facebook account and you’re ready to create your very own virtual farm, complete with barn animals, trees, flowers, vegetables and farm buildings.

Just like in actual farming, the secret to gaining XP’s and is of course by plowing your farm. A plough is a tool which helps to make plowing easier, in traditional farming, a plough is tied to horses and the horses pull the plough behind them to cultivate the land, some farmers use other animals in place of horses, like an ox. To plow is the act of cultivating the soil to make it ready for planting. There are a lot of ways to plow a land, either manually by using horses or an ox to pull the plough through the land or by using tractors.

In Farmville Hub., you can either plow your land using the tractor, which you can buy in the market for 45,000 or 55 Farmville for the limited edition Hot Rod Tractor, which can plow 9 spaces at a time or you can get the original Tractor for 5,000 , which can plow 4 spaces at a time. You can also plow your land manually by clicking on the land with the plow tool; each spot that you plough earns you 1 XP point and costs you 15 . The more land you plow the more XP’s you gain and more room for planting crops are created, more crops equals more and XP’s, more and XP’s mean you get free items, , Farmville and a level up.

There are some limited collectible items hidden throughout your land and you can only get them when you plow your land manually, completing a set of collectibles will get you limited edition items, or a free gift, so plow away and collect those items!

If you are like most people, then you probably own a virtual farm on Farmville. No? Why not? Virtual farming is the biggest thing on the online gaming scene right now, don’t be left out and create your very own virtual farm on Farmville now. Farmville is a real time simulation game developed by Zynga as an application on the social networking site Facebook. Anybody who spends a lot of time on Facebook is probably familiar with the game.

If you are one of those people who have recently discovered the wonder of virtual farming and would want to catch up with your friends’ levels, then this is for you. Here are a few useful tips to gain levels fast in Farmville and be known as one of the best virtual farmers of all time!

Keep in mind that in every game all you need to do is increase your XP (Experience Points) and when you do that you gain a level up.

1. Reap your crops on time Withered crops will cost you money, it won’t earn you and the effort you put into plowing and seeding will go to waste, so make sure to come back on time and harvest your crops. Perfectly grown crops earn you as well as XP’s.
2. Award free gifts to your friends. The more gifts you send out, the more you get back. Some limited edition and collectible items can be given as gifts, when you collect all collectibles; it will earn you XP’s and will help you gain a level fast.
3. Assist your friends with their farms. Fertilize your friends’ crops and feed their chickens, you earn XP’s and you might find a surprise in the chicken coop.
4. Decorate your Farmville farm. Buying decorations from the market not only makes your farm look pretty, it also earns you XP’s, so decorate away.
5. Expand your farm. Expanding your farm costs a lot, but a bigger lot means more land to plow, plant on and more crops to harvest thus earning you more XP’s and in no time earn back the you spent for the expansion.

The more active you become in your ‘farm’ the more experience points (XP) you can gain.

Every individual would want their farms to be in the top position and themselves to have the highest level than the others. Call it human expectation or greed but it is true. And then with higher levels in Farmville, one can also be able to avail exciting gifts, market items and crops that others with lower levels cannot. So, this becomes like a surprise element for many to increase their levels in much lesser time.

Here are ten our tips in beating the competition:

1. Gaining XP is vital in Farmville

This determines your level and also your success in Farmville. And remember one thing; experience points (XP) are very much related to and Farmville . The initial way to increase levels and beat the others is by expanding your farm. With your farm expanded to the highest farm land available, you would have to invest a large number of or but this would help you to achieve more experience points (XP).

2. Expand your farms in Farmville

Second step to become the highest level holder in this game is by expanding your farms. Because the more land you have for harvesting and plowing, the more experience points (XP) you can achieve. Every time you plow and harvest, you are given one experience points (XP).

3. Seed your plowed land in the most strategic way

Do not randomly seed your land or choose your favorite flower, fruit or vegetable. If you have enough time, then plant seeds that offer one experience points (XP) but takes just two hours or so to harvest. This way you would be able to harvest and plant as many times in a day and gain increased number of experience points (XP), thus increasing your level.

4. Plant Farmville seeds that offer at least 2 experience points (XP)

Use seeds with longer duration to harvest but in a tactical way. All you have to do is plant seeds that offer at least two experience points (XP) in a single day. Then if you reach more than level 30, then you can buy seeds offering three experience points (XP) in just one day.

5. Get more Farmville neighbors

Increase the number of neighbors you have for Farmville. You can visit each of your neighbor?s’ farm and help him or her to clean or shoo unwanted animals from his or her farm. This enables you to get additional experience points (XP) by completing certain missions by visiting neighbors.

6. Gifting your Farmville neighbors

This is a bit more difficult and requires some kind of scheduling with gifting if you have a lot of neighbors since you can only send 25 gifts a day. The more consistent you are with sending gifts, the more your friends will remember to send you a gift back. Sell the gifts you get for more so you can plow and buy seeds with the money you get from selling the free gifts from friends.

7. Do your Farmville Achievements

Game achievements are a good source of and additional experience points (XP).
Acquire all the levels of an achievement by obtaining White, Yellow, Red and Blue ribbons. Make sure to do them as much as you can.

8. Farmville Mastery Achievements

Crop Mastery is one of the ways that will help you advance through-out the game. It is awarded up on the mastery of all crops in a given tier. There are 3 levels of Crop Mastery, each one is displayed on screen by a star next to each crop showing what level of completion you have reached; bronze, silver, or gold. It allows farmers to earn , experience or other rewards for planting large numbers of crops over time.

9. Purchasing Big Ticket Farmville Items

The ninth way to beat the competition in Farmville is through purchasing big items like houses, barns and decorations along with other equipment. These might cost a lot of but they come with huge amount of experience points (XP). Some of them cost Farmville . Be smart about what you buy with especially if you are on a limited budget.

10. Purchasing Farmville Themed Items

And the final way to be the highest scorer is by taking the most out of all events and its perks, like Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving, Crop Circle event and Yukon event to name a few. Sometimes there are seeds available for a limited time that offers much greater experience points (XP). Promotional seeds like Seeds of Haiti should also be considered. Promo seeds usually return most for the buck. Promo seeds either do not wither or they give at least 2-3 experience points per see.

Ever since we released the screencast “How to send the Farmville.com Exclusive Gifts?”, we have been receiving this question about how we get Farmville since I had so many buildings that were only available via .

The answer is quite simple. I buy my farmville in order to buy items from the Farmville Market. I think I hear you asking yourself now why I would go to such lengths to buy virtual money when the game is available for free.

I love the Farmville game. I would love for it to last as long and evolve further. Zynga will not be able to do that if they are not profitable. Do you go to an arcade and buy tokens to play arcade games? I know you do. In essence, it is quite the same. It’s hard to imagine but the value they bring is relative.

An arcade game token lets you play the game you will enjoy for a couple of hours and the Farmville you purchase lets you have items you can keep in the game for as long as you want as long as the game exists, and for as long as you want to play the game.
